| In 1991 Mr. Stancho Kolev, who is a graduate from the University of Food Technologies Plovdiv as an engineer technologist, decided to open a chocolate workshop for production of chocolate coating for the confectionary industry in Bulgaria, for which there was a high demand and insufficient supply at the time. Located in Gabrovo, he named his new enterprise Stancho Kolev. During the next year, Mr. Kolev developed and mastered a technological method for manual production of chocolates in boxes. Several kinds of chocolates were developed; one of them is the well known "Pearl" made of white chocolate with coconut filling. |

The exquisite taste and affordable price of the chocolates, produced by Stancho Kolev, secured the products great interest and wide popularity amongst the chocolate lovers in Bulgaria. Gradually equipment was bought and a department for production of chocolate products was built. The production of chocolates was expanding. |

In 1995, attracted by the exquisite taste and the abilities of the enterprise, salesmen from Russia expressed an interest to market the chocolates in Russia. Products with Russian characteristic tastes were developed. An intensive export of boxes of chocolates was started. |

The immediate success of the high quality chocolates of Stancho Kolev soon caused the owner to consider increasing the production facilities. He decided to build a new factory in the outskirts of Gabrovo. The income from the successful business with the Russian partners was invested in purchasing production premises and modern automated lines. Gradually a factory was built with three production buildings and six modern automated lines for production of chocolates in boxes and chocolate bars. In 1998 the new factory was fascinating with tempting chocolate products. |

Looking to expand its product line, the factory developed recipes and started production of its popular series of fine dark chocolate bars "XXI Century". The series was named "XXI Century" as Koleff's suggestion for the new XXI Century. The series of dark chocolates, now called Koleff XXI, are with different cocoa content, 50%, 54%, 60%, 72% and 72% with almonds, which gives the chocolate lovers the choice of the bitterness of the chocolate that they would love the most. |

In 2000 the Ministry of Economy honored Confectionary factory Stancho Kolev with the award Zlatna Marteniza (translation Golden Marteniza) awarded for best Bulgarian producer. According to Mr. Kolev "this recognition is a merit of the whole team employed in the production". |

The high quality Bulgarian chocolate products acquire even wider popularity. The company broadens its product range, produces and sells to different partners in Bulgaria as well as in Europe, Asia, Africa etc. At the same time the chocolate products enter the USA market. The US people highly appreciate the dark chocolate series, the series 200g chocolate bars, and the series Sugar Free developed especially for the US market. |

For its 10 years anniversary, Stancho Kolev introduced on the Bulgarian market the No sugar added series Elegant and the series Koleff Sugar free. |
